Description
What a story this Swiss man has!
This shortbread biscuit in the shape of a soldier was inspired by the uniforms of the Swiss guards of Pope Pius VI, who was held captive in Bologna, Briançon, Grenoble and then Valence, where he died in 1799. It was in his honour that a local confectioner created this delicious delicacy.
Traditionally, a Suisse was offered on Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, but nowadays this delicacy can be enjoyed on any occasion!
Tender on the inside, crunchy on the outside and flavoured with Corsican oranges and rum, our Swiss de Valence is undoubtedly one of our flagship specialities,
